I'm currently a Research Scientist at Artificial Intelligence Initiative, Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore (A*STAR). My research interests focus on natural language processing, opinionated text mining, algorithmic data mining, data representation and multimodal deep learning.
Previously, I graduated my PhD at School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University. My supervisor is Associate Professor Hady Lauw. The main research theme of my dissertation was on mining reviews and micro-reviews as we look for concise representations of an entity or multiple entities.
During my PhD, in addition to the study and research in SMU, thanks to my school and LARC lab, I visited Carnegie Mellon University for an academic year as in an exchange program for taking courses and doing research with Professor Jamie Callan. I also went for a four-month internship at IBM Research Lab in Dublin, Ireland, working with Dr. Léa Deleris (my mentor) and the colleagues there.
Before doing PhD in SMU, I obtained my bachelor’s degree from University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).
Besides doing research, I also enjoy taking photos and playing music.
